The ALP workshop is
a series of trainings created by the late Professor Pierre Weil of the
Holistic University of Brasilia as a contribution to the UNESCO
programme Peace in man’s spirit.
In the light of our current human and environmental
challenges,
these workshops seek to integrate the inner life with the outer,
reminding us that we are all one, each an aspect of an undivisible
source.
The Workshops "The Art
of Living Life" form the basis of a method used with success for over
15 years in peace education training for teachers, education
specialists, as well as adults and youth from all walks of life.
Seminars are currently being given on several continents (i.e. Latin
America, North America, Europe) and countries (i.e. Brazil, Argentina,
Equador, Costa Rica, the United States, Belgium, France, the United
Kingdom, Germany and Portugal ).
Key
themes of the workshop
- Peace is never far away
- Everything and everyone
is connected at source with everything and everyone else
- The fantasy that we are
all separate is at the root of all fear and this triggers our
destructive behaviour Peace is not just the absence of war or conflict
but a profound state of joyful vibrant cooperative living
- We can and do create our
own reality
The workshop is set out
- to provide a new
framework of understanding
- to identify the
obstacles to peace
- to relate this to the
individual
- to guide us through the
experiential process of being at peace: with ourselves, with
others,with nature, with our environment
- and to ground this
learning and insight in practical intentions to make real in our lives
The Full
ALP Training Programme consists of 8 workshops:
1. The art of living in
peace
(2 days)
With what does peace
begin? How can one experience peace intensely with oneself (inner
ecology), with others (social ecology) and with nature (the ecology of
nature). This workshop is for many a true discovery of spaces where
peace can be found. The book « The Art of Living in Peace », on which
the workshop is based, was co-published with UNESCO.
2. The art of
living consciously (2 days)
Is the state of being
awake really an awakened state? Do other states of consciousness exist
where other realities are experienced? This seminar aims to give a new
perspective on reality and its relation to states of consciousness. It
also looks at the management of inner conflicts.
3. The art of
living in plenitude (2 days)
As all systems in the
universe, the human being is an energy system, and moreover a
transformer of energy. How do we use our energy in our daily lives,
from the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep? Each moment,
we have the choice to live or to vegetate? This workshop acts as a true
review of our daily life and is an excellent and rare opportunity to
carry out a revision of our existence.
4. The art of
living in harmony (2 days)
To share our life with
other people can be a great opportunity to awaken in us what is the
most beautiful : the true nature of our spirit. How can life in a
couple, with friends and/or with colleagues be transformed into an
evolutionary relationship. How can crises and conflicts be avoided
thanks to sane relationships?
5. The art of
living conflict (2 days)
Crises and conflicts can
be avoided, but are not always entirely unavoidable. When they occur,
they present a good opportunity for evolving. In which conditions do
crises and conflicts arise on an individual and social level? With
experience and models of conflict resolution (internal, interpersonal,
social and international), workshop participants dispose of solid tools
for resolving conflicts without violence.
6. The art of
living nature (2 days)
What is the relation of
the human being with nature? What are the most recent theories of
science on the cutting edge with regard to the origins of humankind,
the universe and the place of humans in nature? In this workshop, the «
illusion of separativity » and the relation between subject and object
are examined as the major obstacles to experiencing reality. How does
the "me" perceive things? What is the true nature which unites subject
and object?
7. The art of
living the passage (2 days)
What is the meaning of
life in relation to death? In this workshop, a review takes place of
different tradition which study the interrealms before, during and
after the passage from life to death. These intervals can be grand
occasions to experience our true nature. How to live peace and
plenitude at the end of our lives? Each human being faces this issue at
one point in their lives.
8. and life
goes on ... (2 days)
Completely focused on
the group, this workshop is devoted to responding to questions and
doubts encountered during the preceding workshops, to confirm and
reinforce the discovery of new meaning and to address unresolved issues.
