UNIPAZ-UK - working towards creating cultures of peace in the UK

The aim of Unipaz-UK is to contribute to UNESCO’s vision for a global culture of peace through its programmes in schools and workshops for adults.

Unipaz-UK’s Juniper Programme is a structured series of small group experiences for primary and secondary students. A study by Sheffield University has found Juniper to produce statistically significant improvements in inner calm, peaceful relationships, confidence, and classroom behaviour. Founder David Keith developed Juniper in response to requests from head teachers and education authorities during his 30 years consulting to UK schools.

The Peaceful Schools Project helps schools to develop a more peaceful and supportive environment for teachers, students and administrators. Our staff work with schools to identify their own needs and design specifically tailored action plans that might include for example: stress reduction techniques, conflict resolution, effective communication, peer mediation, and anger management.

Unipaz-UK also offers Continuous Professional Development programmes for teaching staff in, for example, peace education; developing the peaceful classroom; peace education and the citizenship curriculum as well as half or full training days 'Managing Ourselves for Health and Wellbeing' -- prevention better than cure!

The Art of Living Life is a series of workshops for older teens and adults to help participants find ways to be happier and more peaceful within themselves, create more constructive relationships with other people, and find their own ways to contribute to the health of our rapidly deteriorating planet. These workshops were developed by Professor Pierre Weil, founder of the International Holistic University of Brazilia and City of Peace Foundation. Professor Weil is author of The Art of Living in Peace, published by UNESCO (ISBN UNESCO 92-3-103804-4), and received an award for his work within the UNESCO Peace Prize 2000.

Unipaz-UK is a chartered associate organisation of Unipaz, an international NGO founded and directed by Pierre Weil.
